Github status update

George Clark-2
Hello Foswikians,

As of Crawford Currie's checkin 17903, the subversion repository is now frozen and the foswiki source repository has been migrated to github.    We had to change strategies a bit and now have a monolithic repository for our "Foswiki distribution".  That is,  the core, and all default and developer related extensions.    All other extensions continue to use a separate "per extension" repository.

The primary repository is   https://github.com/foswiki/distro    Clone this first to start a git based install.   Depending upon your desired connection:
 - SSH:  git clone [hidden email] foswiki
 - HTTPS: git clone https://github.com/foswiki/distro.git foswiki

The documentation on foswiki.org has been partially updated, and needs tuning based upon user experiences.  See
 - http://foswiki.org/Development/DevelopersBible
 - http://foswiki.org/Development/GettingStarted
 - http://foswiki.org/Development/GitRepository
 - http://foswiki.org/Development/GitBranchingAndTagging

After you clone "distro", you can pseudo-install default or developer, and should be ready to develop.   Pseudo-installing any other extensions will automatically clone its repository into this same location.

"distro" has 3 branches; master, Release01x01 and Release01x00.  The directories are listed below.

Note that a couple of extensions were included into this repository that should not have been there.   The ImageGalleryPlugin was renamed with a DEL_ prefix.  There are a few others we should clean up as well.  The procedure to remove them from this repository and rewrite history is straight forward but needs to be coordinated with anyone who has cloned distro, so it's being deferred for now.

There are a few other items that need cleanup, but the git repo is pretty much ready to go.

George Clark
