Perl Upgraded to 5.26 and MailNotify Complains

Doug Sampson
This sourceforge list is being shut down and replaced with lists hosted on https://lists.foswiki.org/wws.

You can subscribe to the new discuss list at: https://lists.foswiki.org/wws/subscribe/foswiki-discuss

There is now also a foswiki-developers list which is more focused on Foswiki internals.  Any users with commit authority should subscribe to https://lists.foswiki.org/wws/subscribe/foswiki-developers

Please switch your subscription over to the new lists ASAP.  This list will be shut down after the first of the year.

Hello-

Recently perl5 was upgraded to 5.26 on my systems and running mailnotify now produces the following:

Unescaped left brace in regex is deprecated here (and will be fatal in Perl 5.30), passed through in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/(\%)(SEARCH){ <-- HERE / at /usr/local/www/foswiki/lib/Foswiki/Render.pm line 673.

Unescaped left brace in regex is deprecated here (and will be fatal in Perl 5.30), passed through in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/^(%META:(TOPICINFO){ <-- HERE (.*)}%\n)/ at /usr/local/www/foswiki/lib/Foswiki/Serialise/Embedded.pm line 70.

Unescaped left brace in regex is deprecated here (and will be fatal in Perl 5.30), passed through in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/^%META:([^{]+){ <-- HERE (.*)}%\n/ at /usr/local/www/foswiki/lib/Foswiki/Serialise/Embedded.pm line 104.

Unescaped left brace in regex is deprecated here (and will be fatal in Perl 5.30), passed through in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/^(%META:([^{]+){ <-- HERE (.*)}%\n)/ at /usr/local/www/foswiki/lib/Foswiki/Serialise/Embedded.pm line 112.

It looks like these four modules need to be updated, no?

Foswiki on our system is at 2.1.3_1.

~Doug

Hi Doug,

please update to the latest Foswiki version 2.1.6. These issues have been fixed
within the course of the 2.1.x patch releases.

Michael.
